Caleb Duartes work consists of painted figures on construction-type frameworks suggesting basic shelters. The intention is to create objects that explore the ideas of shelter within the first and third worlds. Often, the material dictate the aesthetic and conceptual direction of his work while the multilayered emotional tone comes from this constant disillusion with existence. Due to the realities of globalization, militarization, materialism, fear, emptiness, and the constant expanding space between those who have and those who have not, a profound and sweet sadness navigates through his work, as if it was invited, welcomed, and soaked in romance.
This is Caleb Duartes first solo show at LIMN Gallery.
