In 1997, LIMN gallery presented "East Meets East in the West", one of the first extensive survey of contemporary Chinese art in the US at the time. Since, LIMN gallery continues to present "China Avant Garde", a yearly exhibition focusing on the work of reknown artists such as Liu Xiaodong, Yu Hong, Guo Wei, Guo Jin, Lin TIanmiao and the introduction of a younger generation of artists such as Zhang Xianyong, Yang Yongliang and Yu Hang. In 2004, LIMN gallery presented Doug Wong's private collection of porcelain ware from the Cultural Revolution which traveled to Los Angeles. In 2006, LIMN collaborated with Sotheby's in offering to the public, over 15 important pieces dated pre 2000. Liu Xiaodong's painting "Computer Leader" broke the auction record at the time. In 2007, LIMN gallery celebrated its 10 years anniversary of contemporary Chinese art with a solo show by the Gao Brothers. This Fall, we are proud to introduce the work of Shanghai photographer Yang Yongliang with his first solo exhibition in the US.
