LIMN Rugs collection 2006
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year, LIMN is pleased to announce the launch and release of its first rugs collection designed in collaboration with nine fine art artists the gallery works with since 2000. The rugs collection has been in the works since 2002. The selected artists are Derrick Buisch (Madison, WI), Jaq Chartier (Seattle, WA), Catherine Courtenaye (SF, CA), Sid Garrison (SF, CA), Carrie Leeb (SF, CA), Deneane Niebergall (SF, CA), Nathaniel Price (SF, CA), Kimberly Squaglia (Sacramento, CA) and Kathryn St Clair (SF, CA).
The first collection is a limited edition, comprised of sixteen rugs. The designs are reproduction of original artworks the artists have exhibited widely. They retain in their best ability the quality of the painting, drawing or original design. The final series is typical of LIMN’s approach to aesthetic, the ability to live with art and design in the most unsuspected way. Made by hand in Kathmandu, Nepal, each rug is 100 knots per square inch. Up to fours weavers work on one rug taking approximately 90 to 120 days to finish. The edition of 100 is individually numbered and labeled and will be produced as ordered, standard size 8’x10, 9’x12’ and custom size. The materials used in production are 100% natural, including the highest quality wool from Tibet and New Zealand and silk from India. The manufacture is a cooperative factory outside of Kathmandu, and all weavers are Tibetan refugees. No child labor is involved in the production.

Since 1981, LIMN has exhibited artists, designers, and architects’ work. Based in San Francisco, LIMN is known for being a place where art and design meet, a multi-leveled resource for design-driven furniture, lighting, accessories, and art for the home and office. The Rug Collection brings again artistic talent, craftsmanship, and culture to enjoy art as a way of living.
